Boudin Bakery & Cafe - San Francisco Fisherman ' s Wharf

Everyone says this is a place you HAVE TO TRY . So in I went ,herded like a very obedient sheep with the rest of the flock .

The instant you enter the shop proper , you will have to contend with the crowd which can be quite overwhelming , like at Ikea's makan place , you know ?
Breads on display , can be a sight to behold as you will probably never see the likes of this elsewhere again ( except for In n Out down the road )

Every one from every nationality seems to be in every corner of the shop . As such , you will be hard pressed to walk in a straight line as there will be many human obstacle courses blocking your way .

Pace in the kitchen moves factory like. Staff here have already mastered the art of not looking anyone in the eye while on the job . Ask anyone anything and unless they are serving you at the moment , they will not be distracted by say for example, a queue cutter ( she or he wouldn't get served anyway )

After standing for a bit , of course you pay up and get your order ...the next thing you need to do is find a table space and get some water too ( because the chowder can get quite salty after a while ) which can be quite a challenge .

Soooooo......
what did the famous , bread bowl chowder which costs almost 10 USD taste like ?
Aisey man , you can get this kind of chowder in Malaysia too ( steakhouses , hotels etc ) , it's only the bread bowl made of sourdough that is supposed to be really good .
In fact so good is that particular bread of theirs , it was featured in Home Alone 3 .
But ah , you go get 2 cans of Campbell and add on some crab meat and potato cubes ah , aisey , can get almost the same thing already lah.

Personally , this just didn't make the cut for me .
Don't get the fuss , don't think I'll ever be back for another . If I do , I must be nuts , loco already .

What's the big hoohaa over Boudin ? Seriously , if you come here , just walk around the shop , take pictures and move on  .
Jalan ...faiti ...faiti chau .

Sigh ....this is one of those times where I fell for the hype and ended up feeling so stupid .

It may have been good ages ago , but I truly do not know how to wrestle with ( I mean, appreciate ) that jaw breaking sourdough ( playdough like ) bread . Fragrant yes , with chances of it getting stuck in my throat higher .

Cold and clinical service is beside the point , the chowder is well , just another salty chowder .

Pass .
Once is more than enough thank you .

Verdict : aiya....takyah makan pun tak apa lah . Duk hotel masak megi lebih syok tau ?

Location : San Francisco
