Arab tourist season is supposed to be long over already , yet today , I witnessed one of the most amazing sights in my life .
This girl was given the liberty to drive around the island in their rental car with her loved ones and her exuberant excitement was so apparent and infectious I just have to tell you about it .
She smiled so wide , grinning from ear to ear , completely enthralled by this precious moment we all take for granted .
Basically , when these ladies arrive in Penang , their number one activity , would be to go shopping for colourful clothes for their kids and themselves ,
then go eat at American franchise restaurants .
You'll never see them in a local joint . Beats me why , but they straight out seem to prefer American only .
Of course , you'll see some of them with a shisha in hand at joints where their menfolk congregate . That is after having the wind punched out of them from all those watersports activities .
Also seen them in a daze over the prices at Daiso while pointing out the product they recognised from instagram . They can't believe the pricing and always walk out with some laundry or beauty trinket . Just one or 2 max because they still cannot believe it .
However , today's sight , is a new development. Such a jarring difference from the sight of older middle eastern ladies boldly walking around in tight colourful auntie pants last year !
Anyway , it's so good to see them finally enjoying themselves behind the wheels .
Such a marked difference from the earlier waves of glum unsmiling women .
Have fun while you're here girls . We locals don't mind one bit .
