Originally from Geylang Serai , this stall is rather easy to find via the MRT .
Just get off at Eunos and walk past the first visible foodcourt you see ,
proceed past a row of small retail shops , turn left and you will soon see another foodcourt complex .
Highly recommended by local folks , this was our second choice stop , on the Briyani hit list . First preference was for one place near Paya Lebar MRT station , third option was all the way on the other side at Tanjong Pagar
Rather well organised stall this .
Tried both the mutton briyani and chicken briyani ( refer to the top pic ) . Both meats are buried underneath the pile of rice .
What the locals rave about is that Mami Midah's version uses evap milk ( considered to be healthier than artery clogging coconut milk ) , resulting in fluffy rice which is less oily and greasy .
The acar ( a pickled type of mix between a Nyonya and Indian chutney ) was fantastic ! You could taste the freshness of the pounded roasted peanuts . So fragrant it was !
And when it came to the mutton ....ohmaigawd ! the meat just pulled away beautifully . Tender and delicious , do try to ask for meat on bone as that is much tastier than lean meat on its own .
Coming to the rice .
Now I finally understand what they mean by " panjaaaaaang "
Real long grained basmati this .
Tri coloured , lightly scented in spices but just so delightful to chew on .
Gets better with every mouthful !
Having said all that , do not just confine yourself to restaurants while in Singapore . Do give the open air food courts a try .
Word of advice : when you return the tray , take note that there is a halal section and non halal section . Mami Midah's empty plates should be slotted into the halal tower .
Location : Singapore
