Wingstop - VivoCity

Confronted by the sheer numbers of dining options at VivoCity , we finally decided to stop at Wingstop . Yeah , I know , it sounds so corny but that's what we did . Really .

Curry Times by Old Chang Kee

Felt like I was dining on a period drama stage set . The restaurant was after all , located in a very visible , vantage , prime location , and the extra elevated platform was a clever touch indeed .
Which is a good thing really since I like all things retro .

Bathed in yellow , the lights although modern halogens , recreated the time when people used to dine under one single yellow fluorescent bulb . Back in the old days .

Found ourselves a space right in front of the entrance where they placed one enamel pot full of cutleries on our table . These are made in China , not those expensive ones imported from Europe by rich Nyonya families .
Strange how even the make of pot can stir that melancholic effect in us , but it does .

Authentic Mun Chee Kee - Sam Leong Road

Can't think of anything more perfect to put back the glow on the cheeks , than a steaming hot bowl of soup for supper . And since this shop claims to be the King of Pig Organ's Soup , we're gonna give it a try .

Mami Midah Briyani - quite easy to find

Originally from Geylang Serai , this stall is rather easy to find via the MRT .
Just get off at Eunos and walk past the first visible foodcourt you see ,
proceed past a row of small retail shops , turn left and you will soon see another foodcourt complex .

Highly recommended by local folks , this was our second choice stop , on the Briyani hit list . First preference was for one place near Paya Lebar MRT station , third option was all the way on the other side at Tanjong Pagar

Singapore Foodcation during Chinese New Year

I'll tell you very frankly , I was very annoyed . Annoyed over the fact that the island republic had garnered so many Michelin starred food outlets , I just had to go find out for myself if this was indeed a farce or not .
How outrageous !

A lot of Malaysians ( muah too ) , did suspect that perhaps those Caucasians in charge of awarding the coveted little sparklers , did not know what to look for in South East Asian cuisines and thus insinuated rather glaringly that it had been awarded rather unjustly and unfairly  . I can understand where they are coming from , completely , since , you know , most of us think that it is our people who go there and cook up fantastic fare for them . Still , that nagging feeling of a what if sits at the back of the head and stays there for good till you really need to get down and see for yourself to set things right once and for all .

So this Chinese New Year , seeing how Bangkok was so wet , balmy and prone to flooding , as was the rest of the peninsula , and the fact that the island was just one and a half hour's flight away ( was so bloody cheap I tell you , it would have cost more for us to fly to Langkawi or even KL ! ), we packed our bags and went to see if THEY were wrong or WE were indeed wronged .

I swear I wasn't trying to strike a retro Shanghai chinese sausage tin babe pose , the wind was so strong that my strap fell out on one side but I didn't know that thus I had to crop that tooooo sexy part out

Mak's Noodle - The Centrepoint

We take our wantan noodles very seriously and since we discovered Mak's Noodle in Hong Kong has been awarded a Michelin Star , yet we don't want to go that far , we're going to trying it out down south in sunny Singapore .

Cluck cluck

Happy CNY everyone !
If you recognise this ( it's almost everywhere you turn ) , you will know where I am right now .
It's a brass coloured cockerel metal basket .
There was a clearance sale and I picked it up for around MYR 10 only .
