Looks like lalang

Been avoiding chicken for more than a week already due to a hunch that what is put out there for us in the market is just not fit for consumption .
During that span of time , we've added more variety to our diet .
Beef , mutton , pork , fish , fruits , fishballs  ...anything but chicken .

And sometimes , when we decide to take the recommendation of the order taker and end up with a questionable dish of the day such as the one below , well , it makes you want to reevaluate if you would like to step in once again .

I seriously do not know what vegie the above is .
It looks like tall grass blades we call lalang and tastes like chives .
Fried together with a few pathetic strings of beansprouts , I can assure you we were so dumbfounded when they placed this dish in front of us , a herd of buffaloes could have trampled through the restaurant and we'd be still staring at this plate .

" You first "
Turns out , it wasn't so bad but the next time she shoves this in our face , er I'd rather not .

For supper , I decided to get even more " clever "
since I heard that there was a bumper crop of blood cockles from Yan .
So we went to a supper place in the middle of town just now and placed an order worth ten ringgit .
The cockles ( sorry I didn't take pics ) were so huge and meaty but gawd damnnnn....there was still mud inside the molluscs and not only was the par boiling method overdone ( had turned orangey brown ) , bit too much salt was used , plus the dipping sauce came straight out of the bottle !

Yes , there's a bumper harvest but blood cockles from Kuala Sepetang are still the most delicious I've ever had . Those from Yan taste slightly different .

Faced with way too many cockles still containing mud , I tell you what , gimme lalang over that anytime .

Hopefully your weekend is better than mine ?
