It's Week 2 of the promotion and still , there are tons of unhappy people who were unable to get these toys due to the presence of scalpers
. These scalpers purchase a minimum of 4 up to a maximum of 100 toys and then resell them from between 15 ringgit to as high as 90 ringgit each via various channels .
The Toyota A86 below is reportedly wiped out by the way . Yeah , even the guys want in on this .
Took less than 4 hours in some stores , despite the outlets limiting each person to 4 toys , I mean Happy Meal sets , max each .
No clue as to what I'm babbling on about ? Well , the current discontent all began with this big Hello Kitty & Bow teapot
Since I do not believe in paying someone else a fortune for it , here's how I am able to lay my hands the toys that I want .
1. Social media connection
Make sure you subscribe to their facebook page for latest updates as well as check their website for the latest promotions . Facebook has an option for you to always see a page first , so if landing the toy is super important to you , make sure you use this feature .

2 . Thursday is the day
This is the golden rule .
New toys are always sold on Thursdays hence , if you're going to a 24 hour outlet , go on a Wednesday and wait till midnight .
If it is not a 24 hour restaurant , wait for them to open on Thursday .
3 . Do your homework
Arm yourself with information on the various operating hours of the outlets on your radar , whether the area is extremely high traffic or not .
Also plot a map of where all the OTHER outlets are , in case of emergencies , where the toys sell out and you might need to rush to the next location .
4 . Be Early , Act Fast
Don't put off buying for tomorrow or worse still , plan to go on a weekend. Act fast once you know it has gone up for sale .
During the height of the Minion Happy Meal , I had to wait in line hours before the toy was put up for sale . This current promo has not reached that proportion where people start ripping down the shutters yet , still , if you want the toys in Week 3 , you may have to do this
5 . Group Up , Split Up
Sometimes , especially when sales reach manic proportions , that'll mean you need to queue way before time . Thus you'll need a partner to hold your space for you so that you can take turns going to the washroom .
However , the thing is , when a special queue is set up , does that mean other counters will not be selling the Happy Meal set ? No.
This way both of you can split up when the restaurant management decides to open up more counters . Thus , if your chances of getting a toy is lessened because you are in a longer queue , and your partner can get to a shorter line , do it !
6. Be Vigilant
Stay alert as they sometimes open up extra lanes . This is also a time where your partner will come in handy .
Some partners always linger near the cashier counters , so that they can quickly slip in as the first in line , when that happens . You're taking a huge risk there , but it helps when some asshole decides to buy all the stock leaving everybody else with nothing
7. Keep the Kids Away
This is not only for their own safety but also for your own sanity .
99.9 percent of the buyers are adults and some of them will not hesistate to get very rough when the unexpected happens .
Besides , a bawling little devil is gonna melt your resolve , make you throw up your hands in surrender and go home .
8 . Buy first , Exchange later
Even if you find out about the promotion a week late , don't worry . You can always exchange with other Happy Meal toy collectors so that both of you can eventually get the complete set .
How to go about this ? If they allow you to buy 4 sets , buy 2 , one for yourself and another to exchange with another person out there , who has the toy that you want
9. Drive Through Option
In Penang , some motorbike riders will park themselves next to the drive through order window just before they begin selling the toys ( refer to Tip #2 for the best time ) .
Sometimes , the drive through can be a better bet BUT ALWAYS check your order as some staff have been known to forget to put a toy in or worse still give you an older toy which you do not want
10 . Scalper or Trader
Yup . This is your last option .When you have no choice but have to use their services , make sure you
know whether you're negotiating with a scalper or a trader first .
A scalper will lower his or her price to cut loses , while the trader will increase it . Scalpers hate keeping stocks for too long , while traders seem to think that the value increases with time .
Those willing to wait longer , can get very good deals from scalpers who are anxious to ditch their stocks since demand would have plummetted by the time the promo period is over .
One good thing about scalpers is that they keep the toys in tip top condition compared to the trader who thinks everybody loves a yellowing , disintegrating toy .
Hope you get your Week 3 toys guys and girls . The queue usually gets worse and more insane each week . Also the last week is crucial as many try to complete their sets .
