2 nights at the Concorde

Some places evoke a lot of memories for me and this is one of them .
I've stayed at the Concorde in Kuala Lumpur a few times already and now I'm back babeh .

This guest lift got made over .
Has that real Vegas vibe to it I tell you ! Just couldn't help myself .

Back to my story mory , there was once upon a time where we enjoyed one night bathed by the glorious lights of the KLCC inside a huuuuugeeee upgraded room which faced the collosal structure directly opposite ,
not sure if you can experience that now as the city has become so boxed in I think one of these days , the sky will be covered !

Then there was also another time , where I was so star struck by all the local celebrities and royal folks mingling around Hard Rock , I pretty much spent the night stealing glances  at the most sophisticated royal lady out of the lot . She's still very beautiful today despite having aged much .

See the Hard Rock logo on the rooftop of the building visible from my room ? That's where it is .

Still conveniently located , the monorail ( you can see the station next to that Hard Rock rooftop and in front of the green hill ) takes you straight into the Bukit Bintang shopping district , with the KLCC a very walkable distance away while the Kelana Jaya LRT line lies round the corner down busy Jalan Ampang .
Because we drove here , we also factored in parking rates and if you're a guest , means parking is free , which is a great thing in a growing megacity where traffic is getting increasingly horrendous by the year .

Carpark is at the building where you see a lot of plants . The nearest parking spot has been taken up by jockey services . It's not too bad , you just need to walk a bit and maybe lift your bag up and down some flights of stairs , I would drop them off at the concierge first before I park .

That's the pool down there. Lots of Iranians were sunbathing the last time I used the sauna and steamroom . Closes at 7pm , opens at 7am .

What you're gonna see next is the facility that I never used to use before . A premier gym with sauna and steam room , due to the change in my lifestyle .
Unless you get a Premier Room , it is pay per entry , does it's job for those of you who need this in their lives. There are a lot of machines , even a tiny elevated dance space with mirrors .
However , this Premier Gym is open till 10pm only , so if you want to make use of it , you'll need to plan ahead

On top of all that , breakfast is thrown in at what can be considered one of the most reasonable rates for a hotel with this many facilities .

Always full house , I've never known this dining area to be empty be it day or night for the very popular iftar
( there were so many guests during iftar on both nights , 1 trillion dollars ....what's that ? )

On to the room .
Actually I was taken aback , they're much , much smaller now and a bit worn too at that . Can I overlook that bit ? The central air conditioning is a tough cookie to crack . Beds were a bit hard and the cleaners were , well , not particularly fastidious .

That being said , I'll show you around . I'd say it has turned more motel like with some in room facilities , other hotels do not give you nowadays .

Wood hangers , an electronic safe that works , disposable bedroom slippers .....

Iron and ironing board .
Elsewhere you'll have to make a request for this .

Coffee and tea making facilities with a real ceramic cup thank gawd , not plastic or glass like in some hotels .
Two sets at that , not one sad plastic cup like in some other establishments . With a real metal spoon and not a disposable stirrer omg .

TV  that was smallish and in black and white .....oh well , we didn't make a fuss over this , kinda felt retro , like we were in the Hotel Merlin era again .

Was so much bigger last time .

Hope this explains the black & white tv .
Everything seems to be so boxed in that if you lived on the other end of my room , there ought to be some problems with the internet .

We got it free , but since I prefer to conduct anonymous reviews unannounced , because it won't be fair if I received biased preferrential treatment which others will probably not receive right ?

That's the reason why I can tell you that what we get is probably what you might be getting too .

They gave us free high speed internet usually reserved for Premier rooms . Goodie !

Our bed with bedding that has seen vigorous pounding . Woooo....

Phone works . Lamps all work .
You'll be surprised when it comes to a lot of other places how many things don't work .

Very motel / inn like .

There are many charging points , so that ought to make a lot of people happy already .

Now we come to my least favourite part of the room .
I really don't like the bathroom . Don't like the tiles , nor the lighting .
Apart from that , the drainage is good and towels aplenty , hot water bit too hot , there's a rainshower but the jet pressure from the handheld shower is not that strong .

Quite a good space with fixtures and lighting that just make you want to do your thing and get out of there .

These days asking for a sewing kit is near impossible.
Yeah , there's almost everything except for a sewing kit , if you want one , you'll need to request it from housekeeping .
The good part is there's a shaving kit , a dental kit and this soap below which is a charcoal soap .

Bath time is important to me , but I didn't feel very relaxed here .

When we checked out , they gave us a discount because our booking was made before the GST and we only paid up after our stay .
Bear in mind that the deposit that they will request is pretty steep .

One single lady traveller was asked to fork out RM400 , while we had to cough up RM600 .

It's up to you if you are willing to put up with these minor flaws which I have highlighted , because if you factor in all your requirements ( like in our case ) it was a stay that was worth it . The gst discount alone managed to put a huge smile on our face !
