Attempted Motorbike Theft , Tesco Tanjong Pinang

It was so ironic to hear the report by Bernama yesterday, that Penang's street crime index has gone down by 73.1 % .

We even had our car wiper nicked early this year,of all places, in Straits Quay before but this tops everything else.

Beware when you park your motorbike or car in Tesco Tanjong Pinang as there are practically no cctvs.

This bike was parked right at the entrance in broad daylight around 10am in the morning, yet no one seemed to notice that there were thieves in action because the two criminals, were dressed well as if they were earn regular paychecks.

After cutting through the lock at the front wheel, they also removed the seat as they had triggered the alarm system.

Alerted ,the owner ran towards them only to find that they had already successfully disabled it by cutting the wires, with one sitting astride the bike, ready for their next step.

The Ooi !!! that came out from his lungs made them cooly get up and ride out of the very public parking lot entrance where he had parked it.

As the bike was by now immobilized,he waited for help to arrive from the alarm installer.

Can you believe it, the crooks turned back a second time to survey the scene of their crime  and what had become of their intended bounty .

The mechanic arrived and it was good to go in no time. He doled out advice with regards to a better lockset that had to be sawed through.

Just makes me think twice about coming to shop here now.

A few years ago, an MP had his car broken into in Tesco E Gate. He lost laptops and a host of other items and it was reported in the newspapers.

On another occasion in the carpark of that outlet, someone had removed the hubcaps off at least 50 vehicles and boldly piled them up at the entrance next to the Nasi Kandar outlet .
People stared at the pile waiting for the culprit to turn up, but I guess he must have been busy still.
This I saw with my own eyes and I never went back there again.

As a quick search on the internet turned up practically nothing, it can only mean that a majority of crimes are either hushed up or under reported by the victims themselves .
