Po Po Champion CKT, Asia Cafe ( NH )

Update : 7th April 2013

They have shifted to a new premise inside a shoplot around 2 km down the road.
--------------------------------------
Today we decided to try out the char koay teow at this stall near the first roundabout leading to the foot of Penang Hill.

If you look at the banner,it proudly proclaims that they have been awarded the 1st prize for"Best Char Koay Teow" category at the Penang Battle of The Hawkers Masters competition,Penang Times Square,on the 25th of December 2011.

This goggle wearing uncle, has been frying non stop ever since that day.

There are ample seats inside Asia Cafe. All tables are numbered. Remember it.
Get yourself a place first before you order.Tell the hawker which table number you are at.

His assistant will give you a plastic yellow sign to denote what number in line you are.
Since I got number 24, I thought it would take forever to arrive but it wasn't that bad.
Came in less than 10minutes.

While the chilli paste has a good tasty and spicy kick, the bean sprouts were a bit overdone.
Not so juicy. Not enough chives.Too little egg.

The noodles were broken up. Portion is very small.
Didn't like the cockles as they were too small, still cold and not that fresh.

However, the 2 prawns were HUGE and most important of all, fresher than Lorong Selamat aunty's.

Anyway I don't see why I should complain when it cost only $4.50 with egg, compared to Lorong Selamat's exorbitant price.

Overall I would say it is not bad, quite tasty, worth a try.
