New ckt sifu in town
Found a new evening ckt place in town and to me, it is nothing short of amazing .
The saltier , spicier type of ckt that makes your saliva thicken and curdle ....regular ckt fans will get my drift .
Only one flaw , the intriguing looking chef with light eyebrows, is a one man operating show, who doesn't seem to be able to cope if more people turn up .

( U ) Lis Char Koay Teow Basah - Bayan Baru
Char Koay Teow Basah is the Malay version of Penang Char Koay Teow. Because the noodles are cooked in a concoction of sauces , Lis is one of the best places to give it a try. Formerly known as Sany Char Koay Teow, even with the name change, the place is almost always packed to the brim .
Their special order features medium sized prawns, cockles, beansprouts and silky beaten eggs. While I'm not crazy about the prawns and blood cockles, and some might not like the taste of the almost raw sprouts, Gawdamnit, the sauce is really out of this world ! Absolutely mouthwatering, not very spicy yet very addictive. Overall, what gives this dish a real nice kick to it. Doesn't look like a lot but once it settles in, lemme assure you that this is quite filling .

( NH ) One night at Super Tanker - Lip Sin
Judging from my 'night' posts, you might think I am a 500 year old vampire's descendent by now.
Coincidentally, I am not alone as there are lots of Penangites roaming the streets from 11pm onwards for a drink or a bite. Or maybe I am just consoling myself over my tendency to want to wander around when the moon is up.

168, Sin Kim San - Jalan Macalister ( NH )
Good variety, good food, great supper hangout ....that's Sin Kim San for you. Even at 10.30pm it is still teeming with supper hunters and tourists from the nearby budget hotels.
While the Char koay teow is nice, satay addictive , western is good, wood fired pizza a horribly long wait and fish head curry one of a kind, today we are having the bland Pork Mee Sua,hot as hell Hokkien Mee and nutritious Oyster Omelette .
Oh Chien ($6) from the Grill Ikan Bakar stall always tastes fantastic. Varied in size, they are very fresh unlike a lot of other places today.

Po Po Champion CKT, Asia Cafe ( NH )
Update : 7th April 2013
They have shifted to a new premise inside a shoplot around 2 km down the road.
--------------------------------------
Today we decided to try out the char koay teow at this stall near the first roundabout leading to the foot of Penang Hill.
If you look at the banner,it proudly proclaims that they have been awarded the 1st prize for"Best Char Koay Teow" category at the Penang Battle of The Hawkers Masters competition,Penang Times Square,on the 25th of December 2011.
This goggle wearing uncle, has been frying non stop ever since that day.
