Khoon Hiang is more famous during the day because of Ah Leng Char Koay Teow. At night, the chu cha stall takes over.
As you can see in this picture it draws a mainly local crowd of ageing regulars who come from as far as the Rifle Range flats for their quick fix .
I usually go for the Gulai seafood which is extremely hot and spicy. On most days you get a nice mix of squid, prawns and fish meat with ladies fingers. Crabmeat is a bonus on others.
However today, I opted for this seafood mix in aluminium foil thinking it would taste like grilled gulai.
Never expected it to taste like otak but it did. Think I'll stick to my regular order next time.
Never found fault once with their fried rice version.
Comes out darker instead of white. Very fluffy but a little on the oily side which is just right up my alley .
The bowl of Lotus root soup you see in the background, tastes very different from other places. Some might not like this at all. They're not really consistent when it comes to soup. Tastes nice one day, may be awful on others, it all depends on the cut of meat they are using.
Added on a plate of brocolli out of guilt.
Am I eating healthy ? Who am I kidding....
