Everyone refers to this famous stall as Swee Kong hokkien mee .
When we first arrived the coffeeshop was still kinda empty .
Ten minutes later, all new diners were having theirs .....
By the time we left, a beeline for illegal parking space in the clamping zone had started.
Mind you, the coffeeshop lies directly opposite a police station.
Local connoisseurs will declare that this is THE No.1 hokkien mee on Penang island.
With cabai (chilli paste) that packs just the right amount of lethal wallop to send you slightly over the edge.
The amazing thing about the soup is it practically never cools down. It comes boiling piping hot and remains at about the same tongue burning temperature even when you are halfway through your bowl.
As for me I have a long way more to go in fully appreciating Lean Huat's version.
Maybe I shouldn't have binged on the lusciously sinful chopped roast pork from the backlane of Pulau Tikus market first.
