This shop is a real throwback to the 70s.
It's also so much cleaner, with an environment that is much more pleasant , compared to the other great Minangkabau restaurant inside Georgetown.
The only drawback is parking, which can be quite a challenge as the area has limited space only.

Just take and scoop ( self service ) whatever dishes you fancy, from the back where they are displayed and someone will come to your table to do the math
Hubby's family has a great ikan sumbat recipe, which I think this restaurant can match, because the dark , deep fried cencaru is almost an identical clone.
So well marinated .
The lighter coloured one, is lightly grilled, sun dried kembung (mackerel), which is delightfully sweet because the fish is so incredibly fresh .

Deep fried chicken.
Extremely well marinated and so tasty .
Although I like it, this probably won't score high marks with the Penang chinese community in particular , as the chicken is quite oily.
Don't know how many herbs and spices went into it but I can definitely taste some cekor root. Fantastic !

You know how jelly sold outside is so hard and tasteless ?
The ones here are so fragrant, with rose syrup and pandan.
Nothing like the ones sold in cut fruit stalls .
This is the real home made stuff lovingly boiled over a stove.
$1 only
Good for cooling down your singed tongue.
