Noor Bee Nasi Melayu ( U )

Because they churn out some really fine foods,
I sometimes wish they were located somewhere far better than here.

It's a small family run business, well known amongst the islanders.
Comfort foods, so typically Tanjung Tokong style, yes that's what they serve here.
That means a great, winning hodgepodge mixture of Mamak , Pakistani, Penang and Kelantanese Malay, all mixed together, producing very unique ( but no less delicious ) curries with a hint of bitter.

So good, it is a hit, among the local Chinese, with clientele encompassing labourers to millionaires ( and the occasional Viva driving billionaire ) who flock here and wipe out everything in sight.
See ?
Almost nothing left.
Sometimes I have to be content with just a little bit of curry.
Times like this, I get a little fed up.
Buggers tapau like it were the cheapest food stall on the island.

But, they're not . Not exactly cheap, by Penang standards that is .
These 2 plates below, cost $18.90 with 2 watermelon juices thrown in.
4 types of vegies, 2 pieces of fried chicken, 1 large prawn.

In the post before this, I introduced you to the Sarumi salad. Here,is where you can get a taste of the said dish.
Minang style brinjal in the background.

Prawn curry.
So creamy,so fleshy, firm and so damn good,
it is to die for
$ 6

Fried chicken marinated with turmeric .
A bestseller that's snapped up as soon as it comes out of the frying pan.

How to know if you're in the right place.
Look out for these flats.
The shop is on the right hand side of this photo.

 Location : Tanjung Tokong
Chowtime : 11am to best before 1.30pm
Directions : Tesco Tanjung Pinang on your right, keep right. Look out for an intersection with traffic lights that is just before a pedestrian bridge. Turn right. The shop is on the right, hidden away from the main road.

Tips : if you want to bring visitors here, it is best you warn them about the situation first. Or else they might loose their appetite. Just a warning.
