Air Putih gluttons corner ( NH ) - largest portions on the island !

Air Itam is the new city centre if you ask me. Practically teeming with life at all times of the day. Whereas Air Putih is just before it.

Popped in here for an after dinner snack.
Maybe we shouldn't have, because what they serve here is real value for money unlike other places in Georgetown.
The portions are so huge, those with big appetites should seriously consider putting this on their map of must eat places.

See the picture above, featuring oh chien (oyster omelette ) ? Countless fresh oysters inside ...for the most minimum order. Unbelievable.
Elsewhere in Georgetown, you'll be lucky if the hawker puts 5 tiny numbers in. Nowadays, we have to be on the lookout for greenish coloured oysters ( look carefully after your dish has cooled down and you will see it ). Throw it away, won't eat it if I were you.
In Air Putih however, they're not content with giving you alot, they also give you big ones. How about that ?
Just a word of warning, the starch is very thick and goey .

Then the fried tofu (from the same stall ) that came with it is a different kettle of fish altogether. I hate sauces of any kind, but since I found the mound so bland, underfried and incredibly tasteless, that I just had to dip it in. To save it from the dustbin, or so I thought.
Now, that simple act of dipping, turned out to be the art of eating, that really opened my eyes ! It was a revelation...everything went so well together ! Another Unbelievable moment!
Recommended that you try this once.

When the char koay kak ( above ) turned out a dissapointment, I threw my camera in the bag and dug into a packet of economy fried noodles ( not in pic ) . Now that was good ! For $1.30, try it once and you'll know exactly he's frying non stop all night long.
It's not just cheap, it's tasty too ! Everybody's happy. It's a win win situation for both the hawker and his customers.
