We're gonna kepochi around Design Village .
Notice that it is spelt Design and not Designer .
Hope you get a hint of what to expect from that .
Tried looking for parking over here but it was full .
Interesting to note that the front portion facing the shops is reserved for Disabled drivers .
Thus we proceeded onwards to the adjacent multi level building which is the parking bay.
Ground floor is for Ladies only .
Went one level up and ended up somewhere here
Took the lift down to ground level .
Things are still not fully up and running yet . Foreign workmen still hanging around .
Passed a really sad looking budget drink and food stall ( probably for the staff )
and this is the first shop you will see.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
Few doors away is Citizen , then Baskin Robbins and a 7 eleven convenience store on the opposite side
Cube Coffee is just round the corner , Wendy's in a shoplot after .
Across Cube Coffee lies
Sunglass Hut , a leather ware shop ,The Travel Store outlet
Everlast and Converse
Back shot .
Whole concept seems to follow either an Aussie or NZ concept .
Probably the first Obelisk ever in Penang .
More parking over here .
Beginning to feel a bit depressed until we come to this courtyard .
Other than Super Dry and the Xmas deco , the train is a big hit with most window shoppers and kids .
Next to Super Dry is FJB .
Not really impressed with what they have on the racks . Their PJ outlet is more to my liking .
Left without buying anything .
Sacoor Brothers is so far the swankiest looking of the lot
Padini group has a huge presence here . Big shoplot under the Padini Concept Store label with lots of shoppers inside .
Brands Outlet has a corner lot . Also a part of Padini Group , I saw shoppers go nuts and grab their 10 ringgit shirts inside .
Moving on .
Kids apparel is at the furthest end . So mummy's take a que and park near the Obelisk structure as those little feet might not take kindly to the hot sun and open air walkabout
Right . My kids are all grown up so I have no interest in this area at all .
But if you like , the play area is carpetted in soft fake grass so your kids might like that .
Carlo Rino .... -_-
Esprit ? Did I just see Esprit ? Ok , I'm going in . Not bad the discounts but I didn't find anything that fit so again I left without purchasing a single item .
Can't recall what the last store is as I just want to leave by now .
Hurrying out , I pass a Guess store , Timberland ( very high quality stuff in here , thumbs up ! ) , Levi's ( should be good but I just didn't feel like going in at all )
Cosas United then
Adidas
The Adidas store attracted a lot of folks .
However , what they have here is world's apart from the very high end Adidas store you can find inside Gurney Plaza . Just so you know .
If you don't mind then there are some good bargains too .
There's more stores ( such as the sole fragrance store Beautyscents ) but for me that was more than enough . I did not want to do double check if these were parallel imports or what not . The weather really got to me and frankly , I didn't care anymore at this point .
I'd run out of patience as the sun was blazing , toilets were quiet ghastly and the shoppers were a very strange motley ( some would even stare at you for a long time omg ). Rare breeds were dressed as if they imagined that they were strolling along Champs Elysees , while others were ...er ...well , why don't you come and see for yourself .
Directions : Whichever direction you are coming from , go towards Bukit Tambun where all the seafood restaurants are . When you exit the toll plaza , lookout for Cia Xiang seafood. It should be on your right , drive all the way in. Head towards Pulau Aman jetty , pass a stadium , reach and roundabout , take a 9 o'clock at the roundabout and follow the banners straight in
What if you don't have a car : you can hop on a free shuttle at Gurney on Penang island
How would I rate it : Hot . As in very warm and very sunny.
Outlets I'd revisit : Super Dry , Timberland , Esprit , FJB .
Tips : do not use the loo if possible .
Location : Bandar Cassia , Penang mainland
