Weekend fashion project - pimp that old white sneaker

A total of 3 weekends was spent on this DIY project .
The faux leather white sneakers cost me just MYR 30 , inner padding , sequins , thread and clips less than MYR 20 .
And wallaaaaa....there you have it . All ready for me to wear right now up till CNY .

Leave you with a few different angles of the shoe first

Items needed :

1. Soft white shoes
2. Sequins
3. Needle
4. Thread
5. Gold plated clips
6. Covered soft foam for stitching the sequins on before fixing onto places that are more difficult to navigate
7. Shoe glue

I came up with this pattern because it had some annoying names on it and I basically covered the area .

Pairing it with this bag from Brand's Outlet .

If you wanna copy what I did here , some sewing skill is required . All those sequins were hand stitched in overlapping rows .
The most important thing to bear in mind is that you should try to use a shoe made from material that is soft enough for you to easily poke a needle through or else you will have to sew the sequins on a separate piece of faux leather covered foam before glueing it onto the desired areas .

The pink insert is from Daiso while the shoelace clips are from a sewing supply shop .

I'm really pleased with the results , hope you will be inspired to make your own as it doesn't cost much .

Happy trying . It'll be frustrating initially but at least you don't have to fork out a ridiculous amount for something that costs so little to make eh ?
Yeah , those glittery gold and silver shoes are marked up between MYR 200 to 400 , which I think is so not worth it . You don't need to cover the entire surface with sequins , just a bit is enough .

If you're on the same wavelength as me and have some extra time on hand to spare , this will be pretty challenging with a stunning result waiting for you at the end of the rainbow.

Side effect : pricked fingers
