( U ) Nameless Tomyam shack, Tanjung Tokong

Update : Closed down due to the development in Tg Tokong
------------------------------------------------

This is another tomyam shop operated by a Thai-Malay husband and wife team.

Always friendly and obliging, they even help cook fish, that local villagers bring to their shop, for a small fee.

Tanjung Tokong Rempits often hang outside this pathway for a drink and a smoke.

While I like to hide over in this corner where there is a big fan, to blow away whatever they are puffing on....

...as I watch the world go by ..or come to a screeching halt at the traffic lights.

It's not as well known or as popular as Mutiara Ombak, but there are a few dishes here that I always come back for.

The Tomyam campur is one of them.

Hot, sour,light flavoured.

 Excellent.

Add a few slices of lengkuas into this, and it will taste exactly like tomyam from Bangkok.

Telur dadar infused with tasty fish sauce, sweet onions and sliced red chillies.

Oily but delicious.

Ayam kunyit is a must have for me.

Some people might find the meat a bit too dry, but I like it just the way it is.

Their Nasi Goreng Ikan Masin is the best.

Cooked with Kailan, chopped precooked chicken meat and the most aromatic salted fish bits, on this side of the peninsula.

Watch out for lethal pieces of cili padi bobby traps.

Nobody does this better than them. So, so, mouthwatering and incredibly good.

Alas, the kampung is slowly being demolished and they are moving out from here in 2 weeks time, to Pulau Tikus.

Or so I thought, apparently they are staying put for the moment as they managed to get a reprieve.

Location : Tanjung Tokong
