This has definitely got to be Penang's premier Peranakan restaurant..
We start off with the Jiu Hu Char ($13.90), a finely crafted dish made from painstakingly cut strips of turnips, carrots, shitake mushrooms and pork bits, made irresistible by the sensational, seared aroma of dried cuttlefish.
Best eaten as a wrap.
Hold one leaf flat down in the palm of your hand.
Smear on a little sambal belacan like it were a jam.
Put a small portion of jiu hu char on top of the leaf.
Fold it up and pop it in.
If you run out of salad leaves you may request for additional ones, at $2.90 a plate.

An all time favourite, where tangy flavours of lime juice and kaffir leaves, infuse choice chicken cuts with an aroma that makes your tastebuds fall in love at first bite, is the Kari Kapitan ($27.90)
Not too rich, yet luxuriously lemak.
Completely gratifying.
The Too Tor Ting ( $7.90 per bowl ) is another time consuming dish, that is most lovingly nurtured over the stove.
Due to its time consuming, back breaking preparation method, some households whip this up only once a year during the eve of the Chinese New Year, as an ode to prosperity.
The pig stomach is so tender to the bite with a mind blowing spicy pepperish soup, you will concur that nobody does this better than them.
Toast to a wonderful meal, with a hot chrysanthemum tea ($2.90) in your hands
Or feast on succulent canned peaches, while you extinguish the flames built up by the amazing peppercorn soup, with an icy sensation.
Total Damage : approximately $72 for 3 dishes with rice and drinks
Verdict : worth it
