Aroi Thai- a page out of Bangkok ( NH )

Aroi Thai is a quaint little restaurant
that bears a ladies touch in almost every corner.
As long as you keep your eyes off their oh-s0-Thai handsome varieties of manly helpers.

Peonies dangle from wicker cases on the ceiling

While pandanus leaves crafted into roses,
make an interesting conversation piece.

Doesn't take long before our drinks arrive.
Sea coconut ( $ 3.50 ) is not too sweet.
Ice blended ( $ 5.90 ) ...pink ! easy on the eyes.
Very pleasant.

Tomyam makes it entrance soon after.
We've settled on the clear seafood version.
For $23.90, you get 2 medium sized prawns, pristine white, tender squid, fish meat, oyster mushrooms, tomato quarters etc.
Sour enough to make you squint, spicy enough to make you come back for more.
There's a little flame at the bottom, just enough to keep it on boil a little longer but not too long to turn squid into rubber.
Quite pleased with this, as it reminds me of Ratchadapisek Road.

Thai " Cha Om" omelette ($17.80)
or Rotten vegetable omelette ( direct translation )
Excellent ! I really wanna kiss the chef for this.
A dish we all fought over.

If you enjoy petai and bamboo shoots, you can learn how to eat this. This smelly fern is said to be very good for washing the uterus.
And this place does a fantastic job of it .

 Morning glory infused rice.
$1.30.
Very reasonable for such a filling portion.

Tod Nam Pla
or fishcakes.
$3.50 per piece.
I also want to hug the chef for this.
No, actually I want to cry, because this is what I cannot find throughout Malaysia. So when I hug him , I will also shed tears of happiness.
Just be careful of fish bones and spiky lime leaves or you will cry all the way to ICU

Is there more ?

Of course. How do you think I got to this size ?
By eating the salad and licking the plate ?
Cashewnut chicken $22.90
Ok, so so, no complaints.

Seeing our happy faces, they tempt us with this .
An Imperial Package reunion feast on the eve of Chinese New Year.
Look away from the price tag and concentrate on how happy you will all be, when someone else foots the bill for this.
;)

Location : Pulau Tikus

Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/AroiThaiRestaurant

Directions : Georgetown City Hotel on your left, go straight, pass a church on your left, look out for a Domino's Pizza on your right. The shop is a few doors down from the pizzaria.

Tips : they'll only be closed on the first day of Chinese New Year. It's a big deal as it means you have ONE very good dining alternative in Penang during this festive period, bearing in mind that most have gone back to their hometowns with substitute cooks as their replacement.
