Aji Noren - Prima Tanjung (NH )

8th March 2013 update :

Popped in for lunch and some concerns turned out to be true. Yes, the rice was too moist especially when you get to the bottom. Plus my favourite tempura/sashimi combo was not on the menu.
Think I prefer to come at night, as it just doesn't feel as cozy during daytime.

Earlier post :

Aji Noren is well known in Penang, for serving absolutely tasty, Japanese food, at moderate prices .

The cozy, inviting setting, reminds me of coastal street restaurants in Japan.

When you're here, don't forget to check out their great array of Otsumami, such as this Bacon rolled in cherry tomato ( MYR10 ).

Ever since I set foot into Oishi Grand Buffet, I've been craving for another round of thick sashimi.

Settled for this Tempura and Sashimi set which costs MYR28.
Almost impossible to find another place serving this portion at this price for dinner ! Also, unlike most moderately priced Japanese joints nowadays, they still serve you, real Japanese rice.
The only fault I can find , is the soya sauce, which is pretty basic, nothing special.

Our No.1 favourite.... Saikoro Steak set ( MYR 28).
Essentially beef cubes cooked in a salty ( but delicious !) garlicky sauce... presented on a hotplate.
The meat is done so scrumptiously tender and juicy , certain steakhouse chains, should come and take a lesson from them.
