Here are unfiltered pictures of the aftermath from the mudflow which came from the direction of the condo project called Granito by BSG . On the 22nd of October 2017 , 11 people were buried alive while trying to stabilise the slope next to the hill .
During last night's mini typhoon storm which hit the island , mud and water flowed down from the hills and these are the
devastating pictures of the aftermath which you probably won't see on other news portals since the developer seems to be very influential in getting the mainstream media not to post anything negative about them .
The water came up to waist level and it came from the hills and what you are seeing is a sequence of me going into the area from UTAR towards the Boon Siew Flats .
UTAR is on the left .
It's approximately 4pm when I took these pics .
Notice the road with traces of light mud .
There's a very sparse drizzle , the hills are extremely misty and as we're coming up to the side of UTAR , notice that it is still wet.
I don't know if it is due to being hosed down or whether it had finally subsided .
UTAR's grounds seem to be spared . But this is from the side of the University and the mud looks pretty heavy from here .
There's a small temple next to that side road .
At this point , the muddy road is getting more obvious
See the construction site on the left ?
That's the Granito project where 11 people lost their lives when the slope suddenly fell on them as they were attempting to strenghten it .
Someone on the internet posted up some rumour about the patriach of the family giving firm instructions for this piece of land not to be developed but as you can see , someone did not heed it .
We are not driving up there but turning right now . If you want , you can see that there is yet another temple directly opposite the project site .
Anyway , this is where things get real bad .
The mud stinks and everybody affected by the flooding is still trying to clean up .
Just before reaching Boon Siew Flats which is now known as Taman Seri Setia , there are landed homes on each side . As you can see , they were not spared either .
By now , I was so shocked at what was before my eyes . The cars were flooded above the bonnet in some cases , that my hands started shaking.
Hence I hope that explains the blur pics . Sorry bout that .
This taxi driver is still cleaning up , as the girl with a mop outside her house .
Because there is a slight drop in the land contour here , the water collected and rose up to this level , enough to drown your sofa so to speak .
It's horrible . Really hope some of them can salvage their cars and some of their belongings back .
Coming up to the flat area now .
Heartbreaking sight to see furniture taken out to dry in hopes of trying to salvage them or reuse them .
The local politician Teh Yee Cheu was seen helping the residents .
Check his facebook page here .
There's nobody like him I tell you. Super great person .

This was what prompted me to come out and see for myself the situation at first hand .
Those people spraying the cars of mud are Council workers .
Anyway , the sight just rattled me and we're making our way out . The mud flow thankfully did not go beyond the main road into the homes opposite .
Tenby school is on the corner and it wasn't really affected from the looks of it .
But do take a good look at the hill slope ! It sure looks like a landslide !
Further ahead are mist topped hills. So far up till now there has been no heavy rain .
But please stop all the hill development and stop buying hillside homes and condos in Penang especially when you do not understand the forces of nature at work on the island .
