Yean Yean - Lembah Permai

We waited till our buttocks grew pointed so to speak .
Night in , night out , this restaurant is almost always full house , hence , you either arrive earlier , or you wait .
To pass time , you can actually do a whole lot of things come to think of it . You could stare at each other , make eyes at the occupants from the next table , play with your phone , chew your fingernails .....you get my drift .

That's the picture menu up in the background . In case you need it or you don't know what to order , just tell the order taker the number or point and show .

After an eternity.....I present to you
the ........
 Pig Stomach Soup .

This version is considered luxurious already , because there's chicken feet ( I'm not kidding , chicken feet equals collagen in the Chinese world and collagen equals beauty ) , meat and an " offal " lot of goodies in there so to speak . Cloudy , naturally sweet , it's
supposed to tweak back the digestive system . Somehow I don't detect much pepper in there , thus I made a request for a shaker to be brought to the table . Didn't help much though .
Regardless , it's an ok soup for me , no complaints .

Curry skatefish and 3 medium sized prawn ( hiding swimming right at the bottom of the claypot )
Because we love spicy food , this got an all round thumbs up from us.
The fish was fresh and sticky where it ought to be , the prawns are from local waters , with extra roe in the head which made it completely marvellous .
In fact the recipe is close to Liva's at Chew Jetty , but not as watered down as theirs and definitely more lemak ( richer and creamier ) .
In the end , we had to scrape the bottom of the pot for the last bits of the curry sauce because obviously we enjoyed every bit right to the bottom of the bowl .
Appetizing aroma from the beginning , might make you go a bit overboard and make you take more white steamed rice than you normally allow yourself to do so .

Can't say the kangkong belacan was a let down , it just did not go with those two dishes above , so maybe I should have asked for a yau mak or something just stir fried with garlic and nothing very fancy .

Overall , Yean Yean is not very expensive , the curry cost less than MYR 50 , while the soup and vegie dish was less than MYR 10 each , yes we did enjoy the meal especially the curry claypot .
However, the waiting time is certainly no joke , so make sure you  don't arrive famished from the get go .

Location : opposite Tenby International School , Lembah Permai , Penang
