Say what ?

After coming downstream , we were just 500 metres from the landing point when the boat suddenly came to a halt .

Boatman looked at us . We looked back  .

What ? Was he going to show us more fireflies and so near the shore too ?

Instead , he instructed his elf like assistant to go check out the motor directly behind us .

We had to get up , stand up and move aside , thus rocking the boat since I am no fairy weight , as the elf needed to access an item stored beneath our seats . Turned out to be a blue plastic barrel filled with some liquid .

" Folks ....have you ever been on a boat without fuel ? " he asked .
Without waiting for a reply , he delivered the stomach churning , palm sweating reply
" Well , now you have "
with a chuckle !

My expression became like this Godzilla below . I tried not to panic even though he was obviously having a bit of a tough time .

The lady in white - another creepy Penang story

At around 11pm just now , I  witnessed a horrible accident . We were at the traffic lights. Caltex , left hand side of Jln Masjid Negeri.

The boy on the scooter decided to beat the lights and slammed straight into the side of the red car.

The impact was so great , the airbag in the car had deployed , the front left side of the windscreen cracked. When the smoke had settled I went towards him. Front of the scooter a write off .

Hungarian ghost lady caught on my phone camera !

Right, first of all, lemme start by saying that I totally, totally did not expect this shot to pop up.
I'm heading underground because the sun is burning and there's practically no wind . Want to hop onto M1 line on the a Földalatti at Vörösmarty utca.

Creepy Penanti highway rest stop

There are some places along our highways that are absolutely creepy and spooky even during bright daylight. This is one of them.

The covered overhead bridge connects both sides of the highway and from the looks of it , there were plans to set up fast food restaurants in the overhead bridge itself just like the one in Sungai Buloh.
As you can see , nothing materialised which is pretty odd actually.

The creepy side of On Nut

The following post is what some may call purely hocus pocus , crap or bs . Yeah whatever...

On Nut is a new extension on the BTS Line in Bangkok. As I am, what some Chinese call , a little 'light' , in other words able to sense, hear and even see 'things' , not all the time but sometimes , I can tell you one thing for sure. This whole area can give tuk tuk drivers , masseurs and even me the creeps ! If you think it's ok during the day , I can assure you that this place is very ' mang '  ( a Cantonese word for haunted ) even during the day. Most people will not experience much, but I did both day and night and because of this , although this area is quite convenient , I will stay elsewhere next time . If I come on my own , I will 100 percent NOT stay here because I will probably get a heart attack . However , if you have not encountered anything spooky your whole life and wish you did , then you will want to sleep, pray and explore the whole of On Nut.

Why your Tuk Tuk driver might take a longer route

Caught a late night movie at Terminal 21. By the time we came out , it was 1:30 am and this being an area I was unfamiliar with, we tried to hail a cab back.
None available , all full, probably a spillover effect from Nana. Anyway, under the bridge was a lone Tuk Tuk driver.
" 300 baht " . Good gawd, what to do but hop in.
Now take a look at the red dotted line. That was the long and crooked route he took , when all he had to do was follow the BTS line

Bukit Gantang - braving hauntings for a taste of durian

The trip here wasn't pre planned.
Took the old road through Bukit Gantang . So don't mix that up with the R&R on the North South highway.
The drive itself was very pleasant, very cool, with lovely kampung houses throughout, bringing me back to my early childhood days. Then, the first of the durian stalls started to pop up. As I was already stuffed to the brim, had no intention whatsoever to stop.
After the umpteenth stall , I finally spotted one of my own kind. To tell you the truth, when we see other Chinese people stopping to buy something, we also want to go see what's so good about whatever it was he was buying.
Read : busybody
Reason :our tastebuds are pretty similar, preferences not far from each other and the general mindset is " it must be good "

So, at the next stall, manned by 2 women , I was determined to take a bite.
Her face fell, when I told her I only wanted one. I mean, people buy by the baskets and here, I'm getting just one.
" Mau yang pahit ke ? " ( you prefer the bitter tasting one ? like she knew our preference. I nodded.
Seriously....haven't had a durian as good as this in ages. These kampung species, it's the first break through the membrane that makes you remember for life.

Our conversation is as follows

Paranormal Photo Experience

The following is a true story told to me by the person who encountered this a week ago......

He never expected a normal photo to turn out the way it did.
There he was, taking an ordinary picture of a signboard, at a particular shop on Eighth Row.  It registered correctly on his iPad mini. Upon opening the picture to view, he frowned.

Instead of showing the signboard of the particular shop, the picture showed the close up of a green leafy plant, a type of bamboo, which is cut and put in a small vase of water to be used on chinese altars.

Cannot be.... impossible....how could he have mistakenly zoomed in ?

Perplexed, he took another 2 pictures.  Both showed a close up of a black and white object that looked like a small black and white lantern !  He had enough, but still couldn't get it out of his head.

So what did he do ? He went back 2 days later, to get the job done. Again. The same thing happened. Nonsense turned up on his gadget. Other photos taken at other locations all turned out fine.

This fella's not one to give up easily.  On the third try, he  asked for 'permission' stating in his heart , that he meant no harm.  Miraculously, it went through !

And then of all things , when he remembered, he showed me " The Deflected Pictures" . The pictures and his accompanying tale was so spooky, my heart thumped so fast..it freaked me out !

Asked  him to delete them. Period. Don't look for trouble. He took my advice.

Then, he tried emailing the good one to me, twice ! Guess what ? it did not go through. That's more than enough for me to not want to pursue him in sending me the pics.

Spooky !

3 reasons why Teluk Bahang dam is not for swimming

Not gonna dwell on the recent drowning incident that happened during the Dragon Boat Race. Just gonna let you, the reader know why you shouldn't swim in this dam.

Well, first reason is common sense. This is after all a catchment area that provides water to the surrounding areas.

Secondly, ( what some people suspect)  there are underground streams flowing into this place from the hills.
So while the water looks still, you can't tell if there is some sort of current that can pull you under, especially when it's been pouring uphill.

Next reason is this ( what I heard from some older folks)

Stay foodless near Taiping NSE or else ...

I'm not sure if you remember this tragic, real life incident. A family had sent their daughter to the airport in KL, as she was going to study overseas. Their car stalled somewhere along the NSE northbound outside Ipoh.
They stayed put inside their car and were hit by an oncoming vehicle. The whole family perished.

Present day.
It was after midnight. As we were approaching the first entrance to Taiping, our car suddenly made a funny sound and to our utmost horror, gave up speed . Quick thinking hubby was able to avert any untoward accident. He safely steered it towards the side of the highway .
Bearing that tragic incident about the family above, in mind , I ordered everyone out .
As we stood outside waiting for help to arrive, we noticed across the road, another driver had just abandoned his car and was running into a palm oil estate. Not sure if he was a criminal who was pursued by cops or if he had been spooked, but he left his car door open and never returned the whole time we were standing there.
From where we were standing, the kids could hear a sort of light hiss every now and then. I didn't hear a thing neither did hubs. They were creeped out by that.
Help soon arrived in the form of the PLUS peronda who helped tow our vehicle to the toll plaza. Other than being a little shaken up, we soon found out that the timing belt had snapped. Caused considerable damage which luckily we were able to cover ( talk about great timing) with something I had just won .

Anyway, a few months after that , I read a letter to the editor in a local newspaper. The Indian lady related, that in the same area where our timing belt had unfortunately snapped, her small son suddenly became possessed and started talking in another being's voice.

What she related next, gave me the creeps.
She said that both she and her husband had driven into Taiping, in search of a temple to help rid their son of whatever was inside him.
The priest adviced her that the area she had just travelled was 'dirty' and the incident happened because she had carried some food containing meat in her car and 'those beings' had been attracted to it .
If you wanted to avoid trouble and you had no choice but to pass the area after 7pm , the rule was to ensure that you transport no cooked food in your car, he said to her.

Shit. So that's it. On the day our belt snapped, we had packed some food (yong tau foo) back from KL. Damn. That explains a lot of things.

From then onwards, we have never EVER tapaued any food back . Unless it was before 7pm. But I'm not one to take chances.
So no more foo chook, no more beef noodles,no peah,no mee, no porridge, no nothing.
Everything we want to eat, we consume on the spot either in Ipoh or in KL. No tapauing allowed. No tumpaing to buy things like bak kua either. Forget it.
My car stays meatless and foodless as far as possible, whenever we travel up north from KL .

Penang Bridge- 56th Pillar Horror

Just a few days ago, a car on its way to the mainland, overtook another, spun out of control and crashed killing 3 of its occupants on the spot.
While pillar number 56 lies in the direction from the mainland to the island, I can't help but think if it had anything to do with this horrible accident.

There have been many unexplained incidences attributed to this particular column, but most times it only affected anglers and fishermen down below at sea level.
This is probably the first time it has ' travelled upwards' and claimed lives.
Spookyyyyyy............
