Rakuzen - Gurney Paragon Mall

Japanese cuisine fans were super excited when the Super Dining group, finally made it's entry up north.
Decided to wait it out, to allow things to settle down a bit.

So they placed us here. In this chic looking basel wood section which allows you to peek at other diners, now and then. Was bothered by the temperamental air conditioning. One minute it's cool and the next minute a little stuffy. Maybe it's because we're near the glass kitchen that's just next to the main entrance.

Not good news for a sashimi lover like me.

No doubt the salmon is thick, with more slices than elsewhere, but the off colourness...just makes me squirm in my seat.

We like to order sets and this one's interesting. The humungous Udon's really tasty ,will come back for it again.

On the other hand, even with sake in it, this still tasted fishyyyyyyy...K...fullstop

Grilled Yakiniku beef set .
Really, really delicious. Quite tender and savoury.

So much so that we packed home one ala carte order for the road

The Good : the portions are real value for money.

The bad : Flip flopping air conditioning.

Location : 6 th floor, Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang
