( NH ) Appetizers & Salads - Mediteca

I just love how the sun seeps through the balustrades to light up the quaint but chic little atmosphere inside. The appetite is immediately worked up as we gingerly navigate our way through the  simple display counter.

Much thought has been given to lend simple dishes such aplomb and character. The potato gratin in the foreground is the most marvellous thing I've had in eons ! Finely sliced, lovingly baked with careful layers of cheese, omg, I'm in heaven.

( NH ) Cold cuts,pickles & cheese - Mediteca

It's been a long time since I've seen someone pour so much love, dedication and pride into his craft. That's part of the reason why people are raving over Mediteca. Chef Riccardo is the secret ingredient.
Entirely approachable, he's downright serious when it comes to getting the art of making delicious food, just right, for each and every customer that walks through the door.
The machine you see here is what he uses to personally slice cold cuts as the customers come... one platter at a time.
No precuts left out in the open to dry.

Fact is, most Malaysians ( me included )  have never actually been that fond of cold cuts and hard cheeses . Last items to be finished at the buffet table if you ever noticed . But ah,wait, this is where he works his magic.

Fuel Shack - KL Convention Centre

Though burger places seem to be all the rage in the capital city these days , being firmly entrenched in Penang,I've so far, missed out on checking out what the fuss was all about....until today.
While I may not have picked the most reknowned of the lot, it was more out of necessity since all the other F&B outlets at the KL Convention Centre seemed so boringly blah...

Compared to most fastfood giants, these new burger joints certainly give you more value for money. What I can't understand is, how they do it. Since you know, minced meat costs quite a bit and the patty they serve you is a huge mouthful. Cheaper cut ? More parts mixed in ?
Anyway, the downside to this outlet was, our order took forever to arrive . With the clock ticking , I badgered them for a refund.
" We can't do that " the foreign worker lady said.
" You've already taken half an hour , I can't wait anymore , I've got a show to attend upstairs " I huffed.
After sticking to my guns she gave me someone else's order.

Ammu's Corner - Brickfields

You can't imagine how pleased I was to see that this little shack was still up and running, since massive development has swallowed the old haunts I loved to visit.

This is the owner of the humble corner stall where I had so many (countless ! ) wholesome mouthwatering lunches, and beehoon breakfastses, he still remembers me till today. His wife is the chef, who whips up some of the most delicious recipes on planet earth.

Nasi Hadramot, Jalan Sultan Ismail ( U )

Hadramot lies just at the corner of the entrance into the Ain Arabia enclave in Bukit Bintang.

Looks pretty luxurious from the outside, but once on the inside, um, it's better to focus your attention on the food.

There's no clear non smoking section and the foreign customers here seem to like to use dividers to ensure their privacy. Not that I'm against it just that I felt kind of odd.
