Pier 21 - pigout on a budget

Here's what most foreigners make a beeline for.
The popular egg omelette stall.Me, I started with a 20 baht 3 vegie order and by our last visit progressed to a double omelette .
Underneath the egg is a generous cupping of rice and while it is very good, make sure you devour it while it is still piping hot.
Not too oily , cheap and nice .

Pier 21 - the best foodcourt in Bangkok

Pier 21 is a foodcourt that operates on a prepaid card system. Something essential because of the massive amount of diners that converge here on a daily basis.
So massive that cutting down on queueing time is a must and the workers are so clockwork efficient , even if you're on a diet , at least drop by for the sights !

Fuji Restaurant - Megabangna

Edged on by our positive dining experience at their MBK outlet, we walked in here expecting nothing but good food.

Jeffer Steak - Terminal 21

It's my third Jeffer Steak outlet.
First was at Silom Complex , followed by Major Cineplex. The franchise is hugely popular amongst Thais because of the pricing , which means it can be fairly difficult to get a table during peak dining period.

Today, the menu has expanded to include spaghetti soup noodles . With a 3 levels of spice indicator for you to pick from.

Am no Beef Pho fan. Absolutely hate the overdose of sharp , sweet,  fresh herbs in that.
Much prefer the Malaysian Chinese version of Beef Soup Noodles where preserved salted vegies are the mainstay.
What they serve here leans more towards the Malaysian version ...as such it sits very well on the palatte with me.

Presented in a massive bowl , we laughed at the ridiculous size when it first arrived at our table. Compare the cola cup to the size of the bowl and I hope you get the idea.
Think they boiled the soup with either Mui Choy or local Kiam Chye , then topped it with sprigs of cilantro resulting in a hearty broth with many delightful pieces of meat to chew on.
Though we selected 2 chillies , this is still very hot, so if you aren't a spice fan, try level one.
Nice !

Tongue Fun - ice cream in a hot pot of cold dry ice

It looks like liquid nitrogen ice cream but is actually ice cream arranged in a mini hotpot container with a funnel for the dry ice smoke to stream out of .
Get it ?
Back to the basics .

BonChon - Terminal 21

When you see a line that takes a minimum of half an hour of queueing just to get a table space in Bangkok , join in.
As you can see, all the sexy leggy beautiful Thai ladies want in on this ot, hot ,Korean fried chicken restaurant.
You betcha I'll wanna try it out as well !

Beef noodle shop - Siam Square

I know some people will be attracted to the fact that there are two Ladyboy waitresses here. They're not in the pic but the more flamboyant one , who likes to wear skimpy shorts and speaks English like a deeesainNah sashays down this runway, past the protestor with a confidence level that is waaayyy beyond me.

Dragon beard candy stall - Siam Paragon

Kiddo got all excited when I pointed out this stall. Not because of the dessert, but due to the name itself.
Staffed by this pair, it's made fresh on the spot, making it a must see thing to do here !

And then it became my turn to get all excited, as I used to have no idea why it was called that. Until I saw the cuteeeeeee beards all laid out this way.
Awwwww

What's a breakfast buffet at Pathumwan Princess like ?

Come, lemme show you

1. Marvellous omelettes with the Day's special, on the other board directly behind it. Nice touch

Green umbrella tomyam stall - Sathorn

You'll find this row of green umbrellas a little way off  after you come out from the Silom underground MRT station .
Very popular with the local ladies, you'll get to see a broad spectrum of them eating here, from nurses, to schoolgirls and even resident tarts from Patpong

Fuji Japanese Restaurant - MBK Plaza

Fuji Japanese Restaurant is reputed to have over 70 branches scattered throughout the Siamese kingdom.
Yeah, it's indeed that popular.

No idea if the decor changes with the season, but there's a very eyecatching tower of plastic Sakuras somewhere in the middle

Pepper Lunch - Chamchuri Square ( NH )

I've never seen so many Leng Chai and Leng Lui's per square metre elsewhere before other than in Chamchuri Square .
These kids in uniform , are so pretty, so beautiful,so suave and sooo handsome, you'll feel as if you just walked into an advertisement set for toothpaste, facial wash and haircare !

Actually, it was the smell coming from the outlet that made me cave in . How to resist, when it made my stomach growl so loud ?
I've not been to the outlets in KL, yet , I could not stand it one minute longer and proceeded to place my order at the counter.

Jeffer Steak - Silom Complex ( NH )

The Thai beef cuts, sold at Jeffer Steak are so popular amongst the locals ,
that by the time we arrived for dinner, they'd all been sold out.
Hence , we decided to try out the other meats.

We start with a jug of Pepsi, since it's much cheaper than ordering individual glasses.
Comes with more gas and is sweeter than back home in Malaysia.
See the gas bubbles on the side ? Burps aplenty !

Juicy Roast Duck in Bangkok Chinatown

You can talk to them in Cantonese in this very busy shop.
If there's a young man around ( I presume,he's the owner's son) you may converse in English or request for the English menu from him, if you like.

However, although the dimsum, noodles, seafood and pastries are a hit among the locals, I'm left scratching my head. The recipes are really Bo ngam .... don't like any of it .
Hope that explains the lack of pics. Nothing pisses me off more than having to stomach awful food.

On the other hand their roast duck, is really, really good.

Koay Teow Thng - Bangkok chinatown style

You can speak in Hokkien to the proprietor here.

They seem to love using kangkong here in Bangkok

Outback Steakhouse ( NH ) - Siam Discovery

As the kids were up in the ice skating rink,
we headed downstairs for a bite.

 Bread comes served this way,
with some soft and creamy butter rolls on the side.

Oishi Grand Buffet - 3 hours to feast

After the one hour wait , everyone, and I mean everyone ! went craaaaazyyy, emptying the super popular, super fresh sashimi counter, of fish that is so tender, firm, glossy, thick, moist, goooood !
If you're not a fan of raw fish, it's because what you've been eating so far, has leaked blood and therefore smells.
What they have at Oishi is just a notch below those offered around the Tokyo fish market, which is sweet, succulent and pleasant to the bite.
Absolutely must try !

Round the corner ..... tuna !
Next to more salmon covered in so much roe, you'll wonder why you ever bothered to eat elsewhere after this experience!

Oishi Grand Buffet , Siam Discovery ( 1 hour wait )

We stumbled upon this place by chance.
What got our attention was the long line of diners waiting to get in which is quite a rare sight in Bangkok.

Wanted to be part of the action.
Ended up at the entrance only to be told that the waiting time would be ONE hour.
