Happiness Program - one off payment, to yoga for life

So yesterday I took the trouble to wake up extra earlier than I usually would , just to go and attend this Yoga FIT
event at The Galleria by BSG on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah .

After the roughly 2 to 3 hour free session ended , I opted to attend an Ayurveda talk and it was there that I was made more aware of this program which I had heard of around a year back,  but one ..... did not fully believe that such a thing existed , and two ...... it was due to a communication problem because the person who told me about it only spoke in Mandarin or Hokkien , 2 languages which I completely suck at .

Wantan mee with a roast platter - Pusat Pengkalan Enam Enam

KL style wantan mee and Ipoh style wantan mee are very closely related .
Whereas Penang wantan mee is completely different from these 2 styles . I prefer the former .
You also should not compare Hong Kong or San Francisco style wantan mee to this . In both megacities , the springy texture of the noodle and taste of the sauces vastly differ from what is found in Ipoh . However , if you love London chinatown style wantan mee , please continue eating it in London and don't try this . I'm serious .

And it was on a quest for Ipoh roasted meats ( thanks to Hawker Chan hype ) that I found this stall near Station 18 .
We had earlier on purchased a big , beautiful platter in a hawker centre which was so shocking ( for 17 ringgit only , when it looked like it was worth 48 ringgit ! ) I forgot to snap a pic , so what you see here is actually the second plate after we demolished the first plate of wantan mee ( this costs less than 6 ringgit if I am not mistaken ), plus a platter of 4 .... roast pork , roast duck , roast chicken , char siew ( sadly also no picture as proof but it was so well presented , that I almost fainted from shock  ) .

The Museum

The Museum has got to be one of the strangest , quirkiest restaurants I have ever been to in my life .

Located in Ipoh , you have got to come see this , when you find a chance to , cos if I use words to describe the place , I might rub some people off the wrong way but I'll try to keep it minimal and not too long winded anyway .

Wingzone - Nuclear Habanero is a c4 bomb !

While Wingzone has outlets from the USA , to Panama , Bahamas , Singapore , Russia , Saudi Arabia and  the Dominican Republic , they have no presence in Penang nor KL , thus if you want to try this , you'll have to either head on down to Kampar , Sri Manjung or Greentown .

Restoran Kam Wan - freshest steamed red tilapia I ever had in my life !

We hardly know where to venture just to get a good eat in Ipoh ,
as our tastebuds especially mine , have been completely tuned towards our favourites in the northern region leaning more towards Penang and Kedah . Even then , you may find this surprising but whatever we have tried in Ipoh so far , over the years , mostly we found the majority of recommended places to be highly disagreeable , except for those few places which I have posted up here in this blog .

That's until he brought us here .
Oh mai gawds , so now I know ..... this is where everyone goes to .

Nasi Ganja - Yong Suan coffeeshop

As I entered the old but spacious kopitiam, the shiny glistening walls just made my jaw drop.

Unlike many other kopitiams in Penang, these days, they never sold a single antique chair. If there are any plastic ones around, it's to replace those broken beyond repair. How not to fall in love with this lovely kopitiam ?

(NH) Leong Kee - Pasir Putih, Ipoh

Tapaued the porridge here eons ago and never forgot the taste of the meatballs . And that was it , because we always seemed to arrive at the wrong time. Thus I whooped with joy upon finding the tables lining the five foot way today.

(NH ) Beggars can't be choosers - Tong Sui Kai, Ipoh

We arrived late, 10.30 pm to be exact, not knowing whether the porridge stall would be open or not.
It was, still open for business that is, but the menu was incredibly limited.

My supper...miserably sad, empty, bowl of porridge with one portion of crunchy intestines. They'd even run out of minced meat. And no, you can't get another portion of intestines, because she wants to sell more bowls of nothingness.

Hin Loong chicken rice, Ipoh ( PF )

There are famous shops a few roads down, but I only eat here if I am on the lookout for a nice plate of chicken rice

There's no crazy crowd jostling for elbow space here .
Nice and peaceful.

The yellowing signs are meant for the uninitiated few.
"Please order your meal at the counter"
" FOC soup provided . Self service only"

Talk about guts !

When I turn fifty,I hope to still possess the verve and nerve, which I found pulsating from a corner of Memory Lane,Ipoh.
Better known as Pasar Karat or Lorkin,it's a well known antique market just like the one in Lorong Kulit,Penang

Just couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted this pop yeh yeh band assembling on the five foot way.
