Ayam Bijan

There must be some spelling mistake.
This is a joke right ?
The correct spelling is supposed to be Bijian which means Seeds as in Sesame Seed flavour . That comes with an " I ".....instead of Bijan.

Now, like most Malaysians , I too know who Bijan * is , thus when I first saw this just now I laughed so loud , I think I frightened one of the merchandisers .

Don't believe me ? Go hunt this down.

* Bijan : a cyberspace coined nickname for Najib our PM

Donae by Useful Food - ready to eat milk cereal

With the cost of living rising and affecting well, most all of us , some mums ,especially those caught up in the lunchbox fad , would really , really like this idea.

Tongue Fun - ice cream in a hot pot of cold dry ice

It looks like liquid nitrogen ice cream but is actually ice cream arranged in a mini hotpot container with a funnel for the dry ice smoke to stream out of .
Get it ?
Back to the basics .

BonChon - Terminal 21

When you see a line that takes a minimum of half an hour of queueing just to get a table space in Bangkok , join in.
As you can see, all the sexy leggy beautiful Thai ladies want in on this ot, hot ,Korean fried chicken restaurant.
You betcha I'll wanna try it out as well !

Rainbath at Széchenyi

Széchenyi thermal baths..... no matter how touristy they tell you it is , I tell you , this is an absolute must do.
There are 2 entrances and at first I went to the smaller one by the side nearest to the underground exit.

Triangular Onigiri holders from Daiso

Sometimes , we need to go to several stores to find what we want. But in this case, I didn't even know these existed till today.

In fact , I also got the rice molds too ..l.. 1 medium , 1 small.
Not only is this a fun and good way to make use of leftover rice , but they also can serve as colourful pick me ups .
A time when I need them after what happened yesterday in the capital city.

Price : MYR5.30 for 2
Where : Daiso stores

Kacau-ing the guards at Sándor Palace

Though the name Viktor Orbán lies on the tip of every ladies tongue , ( he's so hot till even this alien from the Malaysia knows who he is ) , he does not live here .
For that , ladies, you'll have to go camp somewhere else .

And while Sándor Palace is also known as the Hungarian Presidential Palace...this is also a place where there are guards for you to look at. Guards whom seem to be very kacak and kacau-able. Or so I seem to think.
You can pitch your tent back in now girls.

Cup noodle holder from Daiso

The Japanese think of everything.
And I especially like this cup noodle holder from Daiso , Japan.
Made from plastic , it consists of two parts. One is the holder itself while the other contraption next to it is not a chopstick. Will show you what it does later.

Misadventures in the rain

So , I read on one forum , that the rain in Budapest does not last very long. Just sit it out and it will pass .
Can't believe I took that at face value . And that is why this dragon seemed to be snickering at me.

Hokkien mee stall no.6 - Kompleks Sri Selera Bayan Baru

Don't usually add the red chilli to my bowl of hokkien mee but in this case it is neccessary as this version of hokkien mee is so different from what I am accustomed to.
If you come at the right time, that is when the soup has developed its full , rich flavour ,
you too will return again like what I did here.

Nowadays there are plenty of pretty bad hokkien mee sellers around who put much sugar in the soup you feel like you want to strangle them on the spot . However , when I tried this for the first time , I liked it instantly. More pork slices , kangkung which is extinct in other stalls , more egg slices than elsewhere , slighter bigger portion , still low in price ....pretty happy with this.

The Fish Tauke with a heart of gold

Very heartwarming this. Happened just now as I was buying Ikan Kembung from a wetmarket in Penang.

Malay lady : she's looking at the fishes. She's nicely dressed in sunglasses and tudung bawal.

Fish tauke : " Aaaa....lima ringgit, lima ringgit jer kak "

Malay lady : I wasn't paying attention but she selected around 6 or 8 pcs and put them in a plastic basket

Malay man who was next to her : ( look don't ask me how they are connected but he asks the tauke )
" Kesian dia lar tauke. Dia dah takde kerja. Bagi kurang sikit lar "

Fish tauke : put all the fishes in a plastic bag and passed it to the Malay lady

Malay man : " Berapa tauke? "

Panorámia Café & Bar - Halászbástya

It's been a cold day today and in a way it so reminded me
of the wet weather I encountered at the Fisherman's Bastion.
Fresh off the no.16 minibus , the weather up in hilly Buda
was so much more colder and windier than flat Pest.

Perils of being a handsome Malay man

Overheard just now.

Three girls in hijab were chatting and I happened to be within earshot

Tall girl : Dia tak berani cakap ngan kite bab dia takot isteri. Bini dia tak bagi laki dia sembang ngan pompuan len.

Short one : Uish. Pulak....

Tall girl : Takut bini lettew

Plump one : Hurmmm. Memang .

Short one : Cish

Tall girl : Bini die jahat. Tak bagi laki dia cakap ngan pompuan len. Tak guna punya pompuan . Nak cakap pon tak boleh. Jahat betol.

Plump one : ah ah memang jahat. Gitu pon tak boleh.

Short one : Eh jahat lah

I faster faster walked away . You know why ? Because I as a non muslim I once made the mistake of chatting with a Malay guy and he was clearly uncomfortable and although he did not reply , I understood. And backed off with no hard or hurt feelings.

Why would those 3 chicks want to go cari pasal pulak ? This part I don't understand.
Taunting the man for having no balls to stand up to his wife. Labelling his wife as evil. And getting pissed with him for not daring to engage in a conversation with them. Something he took upon himself I presume, out of respect for his wife who wasn't even with present.

Surely they cannot be married yet. If they were would they be spewing the same lingo then ?

My goodness gracious me.

Jalan Raja Uda - a nook for great teatime hawker food

You probably know how much I have been groaning and bitching on how bad Penang hawker food is becoming these days .Well ,
I walked away with a most positive experience and my faith in good old hawker food renewed .

Now , I'm not going to make this easy for you. Since it is the tourist throngs,  that spell the death knell to quality hawker food which Penang is so famous for.  Will post up a few photo clues so you can hunt them down if you want. All the hawkers are in the same area.

First up.
Cendol.
If you ask me to go to that famous stall in Penang Road I would rather jump off a cliff. The other day at Gurney Paragon , I had their worst ever bowl of cendol which came with frozen unthawed green noodles . What a disgrace !

Compare with the one I found here. It is perfect ! I love this. The noodles are silky , the gula melaka fragrant and the santan not too jelak with a super cold ice shaving that doesn't go warm before the 5th mouthful.
Perfect !

Every woman needs diamonds and pearls !

I have a small ( no tiny ) rock ( speck actually ) on my hand picked up from a premier Malaysian gemologist's shop that makes other women hide their hands under the table. The fire is that intense.
Sometimes it is not the price tag that matters but your jeweller. And like in my case , he could have inflated the price to 10 times more and someone with lots of moolah would have trusted a piece that costs that much , or a reknowned jeweller who is reknowned due to the amount of advertising they invest , rather than an honest to goodness gemologist.

But these pearls. Oh mai gawd. No camera can show you the lustre and shine.
There's white on white rose , those with yellow and gold tinges as well as pinkish hued ones.
They look like little eggs or tears harvested from the sea. Adorning your wrist ...making you feel really , really wonderful.

Does your mother like ice cream

We went to that favourite makan place of ours again today. Placed our orders and then they waited for the food,  while I booked seats.
My personal Thor , first brought over the drinks , then went back to wait for the food. Somehow today , his meal was ready in a jiffy and so the dear koochi moochi was left waiting for our remaining sets.

The waiter started a conversation with him.  Took a while but by the time he came back he said this to me....

He : " These Banglas are desperate "

Me : " Oh ? Why ? What happened ? "

He : " He was asking me questions about YOU "

Me : " Like whaaat ? "

He : " I don't even want to remember "
" We were talking, talking , talking when all of a sudden , he told me his shift time "

Me : " Aaanddd ??? "

Taking a minibus to Fisherman ' s Bastion

Hope this shot shows you how even in the cloudiest weather I can still find a reason to grin it out. As well as find something cute, funny, a little bit nutty and naughty to think about.

150 ml Coca - Cola can from Hungary

Coke sold in Hungary IS good.
Here's what a small can looks like.

I had a small can once onboard a Middle Eastern airliner and my goodness that was so flat and tasteless .
Enjoy the pics all you Coca - Cola fans out there.
The can is so cute btw.

Ensuring clams have no slime

Not many are fond of this shellfish because of the sliminess. Here's how I get rid of it.

Mammut and Mammut II

As a regular mall rat , Mammut and Mammut II were next on my hitlist .

Buying wild honey from a local Indian guy

The big Indian guy passed our table . He was lugging something heavy . Looked me in the eye and asked me if I wanted some.
I thought he was selling drinks and I told him no.
When he walked off , I noticed a huge blob of something floating at the top.
That's his friend , not the big guy.

Prima Falatok - CBA

This is basically a working class eatery. Sort of like a public canteen where workmen and office ladies go to. Since Hungarian food is reputed to be good , plus there seems to be such a wide range of interesting authentic selections , let's go and get something to eat !

Coca - Cola Malaysia - personalised can with your name on it

One lady bought 4 trolley loads full. Just to meet the purchase requirement for the 16 names on her list.

This is mine. So nice don't you think ?

Tailed from Nyugati Pályaudvar into West End Mall

Wood Green , Leylelaan , Termini and now Nyugati Pályaudvar.
These are all the names of all the train stations , I've been tailed heading towards or out from .

The scariest is a close fight between Wood Green and Leylelaan.
On the other hand , what occured here is just a bit annoying as there were still plenty of people around. The person who followed me again had some white hair and walked with a limp somewhat similar to the old guy at Vajdahunyad.
What's up with this group of seniors ? Geez.

Nona Bali - IJM Promenade

Have consistently been putting it off . Been so reluctant to step foot there , I swapped destinations so many times already .

But ah , this is where the social media steps in. It really does wield a strong influence on us . We do care about other peoples likes and dislikes , even if they're complete strangers .
That's why you're here reading this. We are voyeurs who like to see other peoples life experiences from a safe distance.

Coming down to me , when I see a flight crew come home all the way from the middle east and one of the first restaurant he hits is a Balinese joint , I want to know what I've been missing .

The immigrant protest

Hungary is not like other EU countries .
It's gloves off, when it comes to asylum seekers and immigrants entering Hungary unhindered.
Words like terrorism and Christianity merge into a single socket to justify the detention and deportation of these people.

After having been overrun so many times , you can't blame them for having a deep rooted fear of foreigners invading the country and taking over their jobs eventually.

Established immigrants and Hungarian sympathisers , decided to protest in Deák Ferenc ter , as I munched on a danish liver puff from Princess Pékség

From Váci utca to Vörösmarty Square

One day it was sunny , then the next, it was cloudy even though it was supposed to be summer but it was at times, so cold it could have passed off for autumn.
Trust your travel agent when they tell you it is still cold and make sure you bring a waterproof hoodie you can use in the rain.

That's Liberty Bridge behind and it will soon be dusk so let's get a move on.
How'd I get this tanned ?

Lonely celebration

Could not believe my eyes when I walked past .
In fact , I stopped to scratch my head for a moment.
No , this certainly did not belong to a staff or worker. Neither was the glass from the open air restaurant's kitchen .
Someone actually packed a cheap packet of noodles and placed a glass of water this way.

Vajdahunyad Castle - the Scribe with the Golden Pen

The Vajdahunyad Castle is said to be an exact replica of Corvin Castle aka Hunyad Castle in Hunedoara, Translyvannia , where Vlad the Impaler was said to have been imprisoned . The original badazz Vlad ok, not Luke Evans .

The person who designed it, also cleverly incorporated  different buildings from four magnificent eras into one  . Because it is essentially rojak , some of you might start insisting that this looks Germanic, French, Gothic, Dracula-ic , Harry Potter and very Twilight-ish ....you know what ? everybody is right because it is a bit of everything put together.

Coming in from Heroes Square, you will have to cross this bridge. Another 3 bridges can be found in this area because it is actually an island called  Széchenyi island .
Keep right, you can't possibly miss the castle .

Yellow Minion Tic Tacs - Banana flavour !

Ever seen yellow Tic Tacs ?

Drinking salt water from a D11 durian husk

We waited till today to get our fill.
4 numbers of the durian strain called D11 .
That's eleven , not two.

What we got today was so divinely sticky , thick and rich , nothing else matters .

Heroes Square , Millenium Monument and Michael Jackson

Once upon a time, a gigantic polysterene
statue of Michael Jackson stood here, engulfing this column, as film prop for the History video.
But even though he's not Hungarian, the fact that he picked Budapest as the venue for his extravagant vid , and so soon too after the Iron Curtain fell, earned himself a place as a hero in their hearts.

A lot for me

Came through the post today.
I'd forgotten about its worth and just made a presumption that it was half of what the amount actually was.
I'm getting on....it happens. Was more blur when I was younger.

Wandered around one outlet wondering what to get.
Still unable to shake off that nagging feeling, I sat in one corner and started to count.
Wooh...that's a lot man. Stacked .

The Slovak and his Turkish coffee

Here I was in Eastern Europe.
Where I least expected to see a young man fuss over the gas stove just to make a good cuppa of Turecká Káva or Turkish coffee.
Yeah that long handled copper pot they call džezva or cezve . He brought this precious cargo with him all the way to Budapest.
Hope it is very obvious to you up to this point , that I did not read up on Balkan history.

Nasi Goreng Ahmad Maslan - Some of the funniest pics on the internet

Ahmad Maslan is a Malaysian politician who likes to cook and show his fried rice recipes via twitter.
So far, he has come up with 2 recipes that went viral .

Bus from KLIA and KLIA2 direct to Paradigm Mall

Taking the bus is one of the cheapest options in Malaysia. Next to our world famous low cost flights of course.
However, getting out from the airport can be quite a pain in the azz especially if you're prone to counting your pennies.
So unless you manage to hitch a free ride from one of the many friendly Banglas ( who are friendlier than us Malaysians these days and so much proud of the country not to mention more welcoming to foreigners , they make me take many looks at my grumpy self in the mirror )...yeah, it's ok..you can take the bus.

There are buses that go direct to KL Sentral , to Bandar Utama and I think to Ipoh even from the airport....and now, Paradigm Mall. However, I don't like to take the direct bus to KL Sentral due to some highway robbery reports way back ....still can't shake off the risk in my head.

No , don't write Paradigm Mall off as just a shopping stop.
There's a feeder bus that can take you to the nearest LRT station which will take you to KL Sentral too.
I've done this route before. It sounds crazy but it beats getting stuck in a cab especially if you are rushed for time.

Best part is, it goes vice versa. I've gotten my purse nicked before in KL Sentral therefore , I hope that explains why I much prefer to use this stop.

Hungarian ghost lady caught on my phone camera !

Right, first of all, lemme start by saying that I totally, totally did not expect this shot to pop up.
I'm heading underground because the sun is burning and there's practically no wind . Want to hop onto M1 line on the a Földalatti at Vörösmarty utca.

Tacky tourist in a gift shop

With regards to the gift and souvenier shops found at the Great Synagogue , some find it tacky.

On the contrary , there were a few firsts which I had never seen before such as these rows of Kippah

Goldmark Hall and The Hungarian Jewish Museum

Moving in towards the Goldmark Hall , I stand here facing the back of the rose windowed synagogue and try to soak in everything that I have so far seen.

Just saw this

Just saw this up just now.
Name up means confirmed.
Glad that's over and done with !
