We waited till our buttocks grew pointed so to speak .

Night in , night out , this restaurant is almost always full house , hence , you either arrive earlier , or you wait .

To pass time , you can actually do a whole lot of things come to think of it . You could stare at each other , make eyes at the occupants from the next table , play with your phone , chew your fingernails .....you get my drift .

That's the picture menu up in the background . In case you need it or you don't know what to order , just tell the order taker the number or point and show .

Rejuvenation at The Six

 After two consecutive weekends of gruelling events I willingly signed up for , my body finally threw the towel in on me . I went down 5 kilos within 3 days and boy was I worried . No I wasn't looking forward to such quick weight loss . I looked at my fingers and an almost skeletal frame was staring back at shocked me !

 Such sudden weight loss is a HUGE no no .

Time for nourishment . Time to put back some fat .

No chu char stall for the moment . I want something more pleasant to the eyes please . Thus we headed straight into The Six Cantonese Restaurant for dinner . 

Nursed this portion of Double Boiled superior ham soup with fish maw , mushrooms , and baby bok choy , like my life depended on it . Was good , not mind blowing great , but I'm here to reap the benefits .

Sticker by the side of the plate , shows the name of the Chef who made it .

Kampung Jawi - duck rice village

On this little main street inside Kampung Jawi , at any one time there are at least 4 duck rice stalls open for lunch . Now this is highly unusual because in a lot of other small towns , the most that you will find is 2 competitors fighting for a share of the pie .

Over the years , I've stubbornly stuck to this shop , this particular stall operated by a lady not that she's the best in town or anything , it's just that I personally prefer to eat out in a larger open space by the front of her stall . Her place is also not as crowded , but I'll say it's definitely much more cleaner so there's another tick in the box as to why I choose her over the rest .

Marvellous Sunday morning big breakfast just outside the Botanical Gardens

Breakfast sets sold by Chinese operated western stalls in the whole of Malaysia are sooooo predictable .

Boring even .

Thus when he suggested this place located just outside the Botanical Gardens ( next to a bee/ honey product gallery ) , I groaned , you know , cos I can actually cook up a better , more sumptuous big breakfast set than any of these hawkers and Chinese western restaurants and shops .

The instant we sat down and I opened  up the menu ...gasppppp !!!!

What is this ?

How come we didn't come here and eat sooner ?

For less than MYR 11 you get this hotel standard set .

Bacon ,  ham , breakfast sausage , mashed potatoes , one egg , salad , mushrooms , and a slice of bread cut in two !

Isn't it beautiful ? Soooo pleasing to the eye and if you post this up on the social media , this is a meal which looks like you paid 20 to 30 ringgit for !

We're approaching the last days of the Malaysian year end sale and as soon as that is over , I'm sure Chinese New Year shoppers will be their next target . What that means another round of sales, folks !

If you ask me , this year has been a really good year to go search for stuff in the retail stores since so many people prefer to shop online nowadays as they're either too busy / the mere thought of lining up or even trying to get parking space just makes them throw their hands up and surrender . 

All this means a better chance for shoppers like me , someone who is in the midst of building a wardrobe ( yeah , I don't wait for New Year to make resolutions , I just get down and do it ) to land some really fantastic buys from the stores .

Picked up 2 cat eye Quay My Girl lookalikes from Cotton On called the Gigi Cat Eye Sunnies and a really trashy pair of aviator sunnies from Brands Outlet .

Exactly how long has it been since I've had a serving of ikan bakar that is not done Chinese or Portuguese Malaysian style ? Too long .

Brussels Christmas Platter - worth waiting for

We're here for the Christmas Platter ( which is available up till 31st of December ) and upon placing our order , we were told that we would have to wait between 30 to 45 minutes for it to be prepared , so were we ok with that ?

Of course we said yes .

Dance fitness in Penang - venues , all pay per entry

Fitness is a big thing in Penang and if you're visiting or just here on a short holiday , it might please you to know that there are venues for dance fitness , which you can join for a small entry fee . 

I'm gonna list out the venues first and add on the corresponding days for classes . Then MAYBE , when I feel like it I will post up another separate one on instructor schedules after this ( cos I'm afraid some of them might not want such publicity , you see ? ) . 

Since the year is ending and everybody is in a holiday mood , including the instructors , some schedules may only be back on track by next year . That's great actually if you live nearby or on the mainland , you can make a New Year's resolution to keep fit on a budget and have fun doing it .

Ok I've officially gone nuts over the bags sold in this store . Wanna know why ? 

Despite some slight flaws , it's the price and design that gets me .

Store bought kebaya

You have no idea how delirious I was over being able to fit into this just now .

Yes , many years back , I had one pink kebaya tailor made , and that cost me around MYR 350 or MYR 370 , I can't really remember .

Of course it was waaaaayyyyy cheaper than those sold in specialist stores with more ornate and elaborate stitching costing over a thousand ringgit and above , but I was really happy with that pink kebaya , very proud of it . If I wanted more variety of colours , the pricing was a deterrent . While I was always on a lookout , I was also over the size limit , well not anymore , since I began my weight loss journey last year .

I love popping into the local Brands Outlet store because sometimes I end up with gems like these .

A greyish blue shade , with a tassle and a magnetic clasp,  it's another cute , small , structured handbag which cost around MYR 30 only .

Sports Direct is the only retail place where I can get USA Pro , the fitness wear brand from . And since they announced that they are holding a Sports Fair , beginning on the 23rd of November , lots of people have been making a beeline to their shop on the island already .

Keeping in mind that the annual bridge run is on this weekend , I decided that it was best for me to come check it out on the first day of the event ( which stretches till 3rd of December btw ) .

Ah Soon Kor Har Mee - now at Seong Huat

We finally tracked down Ah Soon Kor . As you all know , we're huge fans of his hokkien mee which is and has always been so unique and remained so consistent , no matter how many times and kopitiams he has migrated to throughout the island .

But first , lemme tell you a little bit about a new discovery .

Umi Sekha Catering

I've never ever written anything about caterers as I honestly have not had any good experience with them .

Bland menu , nothing very special .

Not so the case with Umi Sekha , they are THE exception . 

Turns out the catering boss also personally will come and oversee the overall operation he is entrusted with , and he is quite a noticeable figure even if you may not know who he is at the moment .

Simple as the menu offering was , two meats , one vegetarian dalca , a briyani , raw salads , 2 cordials and dessert to be exact , it was delicious , I really wished I could take the entire chaffing dish containing the beef curry and briyani away and forget about my new resolve to not do supper  .

I was bragging about Tajuddin Hussein's nasi briyani the other day , to this Malay lady , one of the exercise kakis in my fitness circle , when she told me that Kayu's is the best .

" You must go there " 

" Ya meh ? " I huffed .

" Yeeeee betulllllll " she insisted .

So here I am , so obedient yet curious if what she said is true or not , staring at these lovely grains , in shades of orange , white and yellow with raisins and cashewnuts , saying my prayers and hoping that this will not be a disappointment .

These don't cost very much either . Got the first 2 from a lady operating from a flea market stall . She's from China and she's lived here so long she can even speak Malay already .

My first impression of her though , was that she was either Korean or Vietnamese due to the slang but who am I to doubt her eh ? I'll just take what she says at face value cos she had some interesting pieces indeed .
